It’s not Jobe Bellingham, but Sunderland hasn’t adjusted to life without the vital player who was greatly missed against Watford.

It will be far harder for Sunderland to move on from one recently departed key player, as the draw with Watford demonstrated.

Sunderland drew 2-2 with Watford, led by Tom Cleverley, at the Stadium of Light over the weekend, dropping two points.
Wilson Isidor noticeably saw very little of the ball during the contest as the Black Cats set up exceedingly defensively and lacked the edge needed in the final third.

Sunderland’s defeat by the Hornets can be attributed to a number of factors, including the injury sustained by star midfielder Jobe Bellingham and the inclusion of Salis Abdul Samed in the lineup, which caused the Black Cats to sit much deeper and find it more difficult to attack the Watford defense.

Regis Le Bris’ team will now have to adjust to life without another important player who could have made a significant difference in the Sunderland dressing room.
Regis Le Bris minimized the difficult process of Sunderland adjusting to life without Mike Dodds.

Mike Dodds undoubtedly contributed significantly to the current Sunderland team before leaving to take a position as head coach at Wycombe Wanderers.

It may be argued that Le Bris and the Sunderland team may not have anticipated the impact of Dodds’ departure, given he has been instrumental in Chris Rigg’s growth and was a major factor in Bellingham’s initial decision to join the team.

After Dodds left, Le Bris said he would now “pass on some responsibility” to the players and require them to “execute some of the tasks by themselves.” This may be more challenging for Sunderland’s younger players.
The loss of Dodds could have been one of the many factors that contributed to Sunderland’s defeat at Watford. Instead of imposing team-wide accountability, some of the team’s more well-known and seasoned players should be in charge of inspiring the group.
Leaders of the Black Cats must replace Mike Dodds’ hole.

Younger players will be the ones most impacted by Dodds’ exit, therefore the team’s leaders will need to step up to fill the vacuum created by his absence.

To make up for Dodds’s absence, Dan Neil and Luke O’Nien, for instance, should be prepared to assume accountability and serve as leaders in the locker room. Even Bellingham, who is only 19 years old, can assist them in this.

Regardless of the effect of Dodds’ exit, it is evident that the team as a whole held him in high regard, and his capacity to inspire the team cannot be understated.
