Sven Botman Knee Injury – Expected Return Date Revealed After Newcastle Scare

Fresh off securing another Carabao Cup final spot under Eddie Howe, Newcastle fans have more reasons to be optimistic. Joelinton’s knee injury will only keep him out for weeks rather than months, Callum Wilson has returned following his midweek cameo, and Harvey Barnes’ recovery from a thigh issue remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, there’s positive news regarding Sven Botman after he was forced off in Newcastle’s 2-0 win over Arsenal.

 Botman Avoids Major Setback
According to Craig Hope of The Mail, Botman’s latest knee issue is not serious and won’t sideline him for long. The Dutch defender, who recently returned after a 10-month absence, has avoided aggravating his previous injury despite his early withdrawal on Wednesday night.

Botman is expected to be rested for Saturday’s FA Cup clash against Birmingham but should be back in time for Newcastle’s league trip to Manchester City next weekend—where he’ll face Erling Haaland after an impressive performance against Kai Havertz.

After managing 80 minutes against Arsenal, the 25-year-old was taken off as a precaution. Speaking post-match, Howe admitted concerns but remained hopeful. “I think it was a knee issue, and we hope it’s okay. He’s such an important player. I was very, very pleased with his performance, but of course, we need to check the injury and make sure he’s fine.”

Krafth Set for FA Cup Return?
Newcastle’s win over Arsenal also saw Emil Krafth make a brief appearance as he continues his return from a broken collarbone. His return comes at a crucial time, with Lloyd Kelly’s loan departure and Botman’s need for rest leaving the Magpies short of defensive options.

Krafth is likely to start in place of Botman for the FA Cup tie against Birmingham, with Dan Burn expected to partner him in central defense against the League One side.
