Régis Le Bris provides an update on Sunderland’s coaching staff and hints at what comes next.

Mike Dodds left Sunderland for Wycombe Wanderers, and the team is considering potential alternatives.
Régis Le Bris has indicated that he may decide not to replace Mike Dodds in the near future, but he claims Sunderland will decide on a new coaching structure within the following week.

Following his final appearance on the Sunderland coaching staff in the team’s 3-2 victory over Middlesbrough at The Riverside, Dodds left for Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday to assume the position of head coach there. Dodds chose to accept his first position as a permanent manager after being headhunted by the League One team that is presently ranked second in the standings.
Even though Dodds will obviously be missed, Le Bris believes he may have what he needs for the time being with assistant head coach Pedro Ribeiro, who was hired in October and is already entrenched in Wearside.Regis Le Bris: Sunderland coach says 'Middlesbrough is not our real derby' - BBC Sport

Le Bris remarked, “We really enjoyed the connection with Doddsy during the last few months, so it was probably a tough decision for him.”
“His career path made it obvious that he wanted to be a head coach, therefore he had to decide when this possibility presented itself. We honor that. Our workforce is doing well right now, in my opinion. Pedro joined us somewhat later, but he now has good relationships with the other employees. We’ll figure something out. The new setup is still a topic of discussion. Is hiring a new helper beneficial or not? We’ll see. To be honest, I’m not sure right now. In the following seven to ten days, we will most likely make a decision regarding the final setup.

Although losing a loved one in that manner is not ideal, it is the reality of our work life. Sometimes you have to make a difficult choice when presented with opportunities.
“Now, given the way we wanted to assemble this team, it’s critical to have faith in the players and give them some responsibility,” Le Bris continued.

“They are prepared to carry out some of the jobs independently now that they have the proper culture. When we are considering how to construct our game model, we want to allow the players to make some of their own decisions. Now that they’ve worked with us for seven months, they should have an easier time making decisions on the field. I’m hoping we’ll establish new circumstances that allow them to assume accountability.

Promoting U21 manager Graeme Murty to the starting lineup for a while is one of Sunderland’s options; he has done this twice previously when Dodds was temporary manager.
