Despite delays, the East Stand at Blackpool FC is still planned.

Concerns have been expressed. If the proposed additional spectator stand at Blackpool Football Club’s Bloomfield Road stadium is not constructed, locals may have left their houses “for no reason.” Plans to replace the current temporary East Stand at the stadium with a permanent structure have been delayed by the club. The project is part of a two-phase project that was partially financed by £6.5 million from the Blackpool Town Deal.

Delivering community sports fields next to the stadium for the Revoe Sports Village is the first phase, which has not yet begun but has planning authorization. Only two homes and a business remain to be acquired, but the council has already used Town Deal funds to purchase the properties on Henry Street needed for the East Stand development.
However, the club has yet to submit a planning application for that idea, citing growing expenses as the reason for the postponement. According to a council study, the club is anticipated to contribute a minimum of £10 million towards the project.
“Blackpool Football Club is currently undertaking a review of the overall scheme, which has delayed the anticipated program,” the report, which was presented to the council’s Tourism, Economy and Communities Scrutiny Committee, states. “However, they remain fully committed to the delivery of both phase one (community pitches) and phase two (East Stand development), and we are anticipating a revised program shortly.”
“I am concerned that if Blackpool Football Club didn’t build the new East Stand we will have acquired that land and people will have moved out of their homes for no reason,” Coun Adrian Hoyle said to the audience in an attempt to reassure everyone about the project.

However, the club had convinced the council that it did want to move forward with a meeting scheduled for next week regarding the plan, according to Nick Gerrard, director of the council’s growth and prosperity program.
“The project has two phases,” he stated. The contract for the first phase, which involves the community sports fields, has been signed, and the work tenders are currently being reviewed. The second component is the construction of the East Stand and some public space, which will be funded primarily by the football team. According to Blackpool Football Club, they do intend to construct the East Stand.
