Ipswich Town: Leif Davis on Adjusting to Premier League Life

Ipswich Town defender Leif Davis admits Premier League football is challenging but sees it as a key step in his career progression.

Leif Davis has been ever-present for Ipswich Town this season, featuring in all 24 Premier League games and clocking 2,113 minutes on the pitch. The only time he didn’t complete a full match was against Liverpool, where illness forced him off at halftime.

Facing elite attackers every week has been a demanding challenge, but Davis embraces the experience. He admits he didn’t expect to play so much, especially with Conor Townsend competing for his spot, but sees it as a vital step in his development.

“It’s good for me,” Davis said. “All I want to do is play, improve every week, and get as many minutes as I can. I think I’m getting better, learning from facing the best players and teams in the world. Hopefully, I’ll keep pushing on in my career.”

Despite the intensity of Premier League football, Davis remains determined. “It’s tough, but I know I can do it. I’ve managed it plenty of times this season, so I know I can last the full 90 minutes. I just have to keep pushing, get fitter, and keep going until the final whistle.”

Ipswich will now shift focus to the FA Cup, facing Championship side Coventry City in the fourth round. After four straight league defeats, Kieran McKenna may opt to rotate his squad, just as he did in the previous round against Bristol Rovers. Meanwhile, Coventry, led by Frank Lampard, sit three points outside the play-off spots and will be eager to test their Premier League opposition.
