The latest Sunderland transfer was £8 million. Simon Adingra’s ‘demand’ on the abrupt deadline day change

According to reports, Sunderland will only for Tommy Watson’s planned £8 million move to Brighton & Hove Albion to proceed if Simon Adingra takes a different course.

Watson, 18, who came through the club’s youth, has had a breakout season at Stadium of Light. Due to an injury, the winger, who has scored twice in 12 games this season, is currently out. However, Watson is poised to quit the Black Cats before tonight’s looming 11pm deadline.

In order to finish his physical before the planned move to Brighton, the kid has been granted permission to travel down to the south coast. Even though a deal worth approximately £8 million is getting closer, Sunderland will not approve his departure unless they have a successor in place within the next few hours.
Sunderland has reportedly “demanded” that Brighton send their gifted forward Adingra in the other direction, according to claims from The Daily Mail. If Sunderland is promoted back to the Premier League, Adingra’s possible move to Wearside is reportedly a loan with a buyout clause.

As Regis Le Bris’ side are in the process of concluding a contract with Brighton, for Watson, it might make a potential move more easier to be finalized. Adingra, who joined Albion from Nordsjaelland in summer 2022, has two goals and one assist in 16 top-flight outings this season.

But only six Premier League games have seen Adingra start. He entered the game during the second half of Brighton’s 7-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon, but under Fabian Hurzeler, he has since dropped in the hierarchy. At the moment, Yankuba Minteh and Georginio Rutter both seem to be above Adingra.

It implies that Adingra may leave Brighton, and Sunderland is hoping to finalize a deal before the transfer window closes on Monday night. It was reported in December that Adingra was unhappy with his lack of consistent playing time at Brighton, which is not surprising given the talent he has access to. Adringra received a message from Ivory Coast manager Emerse Fae last month as he attempts to get better and play more.

Fae said to Flashscore: “He’s a young player with a lot of talent. I just hope he keeps working hard because, at his age, consistent effort is crucial for improving day by day and year after year.” “At the moment, he is not a regular starter for Brighton, so he must work hard to earn that position and continue his efforts, particularly as he still has limited international caps. He’s a young international player, so needs to stay focused and keep working hard to improve, aiming to build a career similar to Didier Drogba’s.”
