After Fulham destroyed the Foxes, Ruud van Nistelrooy reportedly got into a “heated exchange” with Leicester star Facundo Buonanotte. The heated altercation between the Manchester United veteran and his underperforming team is rumored to have affected other players.
Leicester’s 2-0 home loss to Fulham on Saturday further distanced them from safety. Since defeating West Ham 2-0 on December 3, Van Nistelrooy’s first game as manager, the Midlands team, currently ranked 19th, has not won in the Premier League.
The Leicester manager was incensed with the team’s performance against Fulham and thought it was worse than their defeat to Crystal Palace three days prior by the same score.
The Daily Mail claims that during a “heated” altercation with Leicester’s players, Van Nistelrooy expressed his emotions. The 48-year-old is said to have been particularly angry at on-loan winger Buonanotte, and the team was taken aback that the Argentine was singled out.
Since his appointment at Leicester following his departure from Manchester United, Van Nistelrooy has not had a joyful start to his career. In his ten games as manager, he has only won two, including a 6-2 thumping of QPR in the FA Cup.
With Tottenham, Everton, and Arsenal as their next three Premier League opponents, the next weeks won’t get any easier. With just one new acquisition, Van Nistelrooy is said to have been dissatisfied with the paucity of transfer activity. Last weekend, he made the pointed assertion that spectators could identify the players who were demoted from the team two years prior.
“You can tell which players were engaged in the relegation two years ago just by looking at the squad. The back four isn’t the only place. Van Nistelrooy stated, “It’s in the middle of the pitch, up front, and the goalies as well.”
“A good number of players have experienced that circumstance and are aware of its nature and repercussions.
“Having them around is beneficial because they have firsthand knowledge of what happened to them and will take all necessary precautions to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.”
“Today was really disappointing because it wasn’t good enough in all aspects of the game,” he continued while discussing the performance. Compared to today’s performance, I saw more promise in last Wednesday’s 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace.
“Results can be painful and disappointing, of course, but we failed in too many areas that are essential to winning a football game.” This is a fact that we must face. We can’t change it. We have to acknowledge it. Avoid feeling sorry for other people.
