The former Sunderland star needed one thing after Ipswich Town was accused of “setting up” Jack Clarke for failure.

This season, former Sunderland player Jack Clarke is still having trouble at Ipswich Town, and it’s starting to become a serious issue.

Many Black Cats supporters were devastated to see Jack Clarke leave when Sunderland transferred him to Premier League newcomers Ipswich in the summer.

But whatever his reason for leaving the Stadium of Light, no one would have wished his present troubles on anyone.

Fans claim they’ve had enough of Clarke and want him to move on after his most recent appearance with the Tractor Boys. However, is it really just to hold Clarke solely responsible?

Jack Clarke isn’t getting regular playing time at Ipswich Town.
Michael Graham, a Sunderland expert, discussed Clarke’s current situation on Twitter/X and placed the blame directly on the winger’s usage at Portman Road, especially in relation to his playing time.

“Start against Man City, four minutes at home against Brighton,” Graham wrote. It almost seems as though Ipswich is purposefully causing Jack Clarke to fail at this point.

Graham obviously believes it is unjust to start Clarke against Pep Guardiola’s team when he only played four minutes throughout the week. It is just impossible for Clarke to ever gain any form of momentum with such inconsistency.

Clarke has talked about his form, pointing to momentum as a crucial element while also raising the possibility that he isn’t performing at his best at Ipswich.

However, given that the Black Cats don’t necessarily need Clarke right now, there may be no chance of him returning to Sunderland.

Regis Le Bris will have a ton of wingers to pick from once Tommy Watson and Romaine Mundle recover from their injuries, and Clarke would just be a luxury—and a costly one at that.
