According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Oxford United player Tyler Goodrham is being pursued by Leeds United, Sunderland, Coventry City, and Swansea.
After making an impression at Oxford in the previous two seasons, the 21-year-old offensive midfielder is considered one of the EFL’s top young players.
As they plan their late-window transfers, Leeds, Sunderland, Coventry, and Swansea are all closely monitoring Goodrham.
This season, the Republic of Ireland international has been a vital member of Oxford’s squad. In all competitions, he has made 28 appearances and contributed seven goals and assists.
Since leaving Oxford’s academy and making his debut for the main squad, Goodrham has had a significant impact on the team.
With 51 games, 10 goals, and five assists during Oxford’s League One promotion-winning campaign last season, he had a breakout season.
A number of EFL clubs have taken notice of Goodrham as he has maintained his outstanding play into the Championship this season. The player may find it impossible to resist a move to a squad that is vying for promotion.
Six points above the relegation zone, Gary Rowett’s team is now ranked 17th in the Championship. Their chances of surviving could be severely damaged if Goodrham were to disappear.
Former PGMOL manager Keith Hackett was not surprised when the team’s appeal against his red card in the FA Cup match against Exeter was denied, meaning they would have to get used to playing without their midfielder for the next three games.
With the addition of Ole Romeny and Alex Matos in January, the hierarchy has demonstrated its support for Rowett. They are also negotiating a possible trade for defender Hannes Delcroix with Burnley.
In other news, Oxford United’s Championship star passed his physical.
