Glen Kamara, a former midfielder for Leeds United, has apparently been cut from the Rennes team.
The 29-year-old sealed a move to Ligue 1 for an estimated £8 million by leaving West Yorkshire during the summer transfer window.
But according to sources from last month, Burnley, Sunderland, and Middlesbrough were already considering enticing Kamara back to England.
With French publication Le Parisien reporting that he has been instructed to practice apart from the first-team group, the aforementioned trio may now have a chance to recruit him.
He reportedly belongs to a group of players who were judged unnecessary during the club’s challenging season.
Rennes, who are now in 14th place in Ligue 1, recently lost to Troyes, a team in second place, in the cup.
Since being benched at halftime during a 1-0 loss to Lille in November, Kamara has not started in the league.
Although the midfielder hasn’t exactly succeeded in France, a number of Championship teams would consider him a coup.
He was a mainstay in the Leeds midfield throughout the Whites’ run to the Championship play-off final the previous season. He is a senior Finland international.
In 42 games across all competitions, he recorded four assists for the team.
