Sunderland supporters will be intrigued by Burnley’s penalty claim in the “massive” draw verdict.

Scott Parker, the manager of Burnley, praised his goalkeeper James Trafford after he stopped two “very good penalties” from Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor on Friday night, saying that Trafford’s save could be a pivotal moment in the promotion race.

Parker claimed his team was unlucky to receive the first spotkick, but the saves kept Burnley’s winning streak intact.

Although Traff’s shot flew over his goal, the man who actually took the penalties said they were excellent. Because of the camera angle, I haven’t seen the second one. It appeared as though it might have been a penalty in real time. We probably made a bad choice by letting him go to ground in the box. Why [it was given] makes sense to me.

I’m not entirely sure about the second one. However, the first one was most definitely not a punishment.

According to Parker, Burnley’s season reached a turning point at that point.
