After Denis Law passed away, former Manchester United captains Bryan Robson, Gary Neville, and Wayne Rooney led remembrances of the “fantastic man” and “great footballer.”
Law passed away at the age of 84. He was a member of Manchester United’s European Cup-winning team under Sir Matt Busby in 1968, making them the first English club to win the trophy, and he won two league titles with the team.
In 2021, he received a diagnosis of vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Law was the only player from Scotland to win the Ballon d’Or in 1964.
The legendary Robson of United, who served alongside Law as the club’s ambassador, described the Scot as a “fantastic man.”
“As a player and a man, we have lost one of football’s titans. “It’s really depressing,” he said in a Daily Mail column.

On Instagram, United mainstay Gary Neville wrote: “Denis, rest in peace. A wonderful man and a fantastic football player. Being in your company for a while is an honor and a privilege. The Stretford End’s King.
Having made his senior debut in 1958 at the age of 18, Law has 55 caps for Scotland and is still tied with Kenny for the most goals scored in the nation’s history with 30.
“Denis was a special player, and I think to lose someone like him will affect an awful lot of Manchester United fans,” Joe Jordan, who played alongside Law at the 1974 World Cup, said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
He was a true icon for his goal-scoring prowess on the pitch, but he also had a unique quality as a person.
