This season, Celtic has made a great addition in Kasper Schmeichel, a tall Dane who replaced Joe Hart. At the end of the previous season, Joe Hart retired from Celtic, leaving Brendan Rodgers with the difficult task of taking his place.
After the former Motherwell player made his Rangers debut over the weekend, Liam Kelly made a ridiculous remark about Jack Butland. Hart was outstanding for Celtic during his three years there, providing stability and dependability between the Hoops’ sticks during Ange Postecoglou’s rebuild. Now that Schemiechel has taken over, many Celtic supporters think he’s an improvement over Hart.
Liam Kelly’s absurd claim about Jack Butland amid Celtic hero Kasper Schmeichel’s form
Kelly told The Scottish Sun, “I’ve really enjoyed working with Jack.
I have obviously worked with a lot of goalies in my time, and he is an incredible goalie. He is the best goalkeeper in the league in my opinion, and when I train with him, he has it all. “Very good taking cross balls, really good kicker, great shot-stopper, great communicator, right foot, left foot.” I am a huge fan of him. Good guy, we have a good relationship. The goalkeeping group is really close and strong.
“We do a lot of work with Colin Stewart, the goalie coach. Mason Munn and Lewis Budinauckas are in training as well. The goalie department is in a good place.”
With Rangers toiling at the start of the season, dropping into third place and surrendering the League Cup to Celtic, this is quite the claim which set 67 Hail Hail on a mission to debunk Kelly’s strange praise.
Celtic hero Kasper Schmeichel’s stats vs Rangers’ Jack Butland
As Celtic fans, it is easy to have the green-tinted spectacles on when comparing Celtic and Rangers players.
Opinion and unconscious bias can sway the cold hard facts of a debate and it is those that 67 Hail Hail will prove that Celtic’s Schmeichel is a far superior goalkeeper to Butland
It’s natural to brag about your teammates, but it’s absolutely ridiculous to say Butland is Scotland’s finest goalie when Schmeichel is superior in every aspect. The Celtic goaltender had eleven consecutive domestic clean sheets, and Schmeichel had been a mainstay in the league, giving up just four goals. Most goalkeepers, even Butland, can only hope for that kind of play.
