Wolverhampton Wanderers have suffered a fresh injury blow ahead of the trip to Fulham in the Premier League.
After missing Uruguay’s international match this week, Santiago Bueno is now a new injury doubt for Wolves. In his country’s most recent match, a 0-0 tie with Ecuador on October 16, the 26-year-old played the entire 90 minutes, but he could have to wait for his next cap. According to Uruguayan radio station Sport890, Bueno is out for Saturday’s match against Colombia due to a minor muscular issue.
Every World Cup qualifying match is crucial, and this one is no exception, particularly because it pits you against the squad that is presently ranked second in the 10-team league. Colombia, who have only lost one of their ten qualifying games thus far, is three points ahead of Uruguay, who are now in fourth place.
When Toti switched to left-back, Bueno started the team’s recent 2-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League, allowing Rayan Ait-Nouri to play in a more forward position. In the event that Bueno is proven to be unavailable, Gary O’Neil’s preferred operating position—a back four—may not be feasible. Following their season-opening victory, Wolves will be eager to generate momentum in their upcoming games against Fulham and AFC Bournemouth.
