Rangers’ title forecast is released as Celtic’s “fear factor” is alleged by Cyriel Dessers.

Cyriel Dessers is Rangers’ top striker, but Scott McDermott doesn’t think the team will win the Scottish Premiership. Although the striker for the Gers may be the team’s leading scorer this season, the number of opportunities he has wasted has cast doubt on the Nigerian international’s future.

McDermott expressed his opinion of Dessers while comparing him to Celtic’s Kyogo on the Daily Record’s Hotline Live (12 November). According to McDermott, “I’ve always said for me, see if he was second choice striker, he’d actually be doing a decent job.” “The biggest question in my mind is whether Rangers can win a championship with Dessers as their starting number nine. I don’t think so.

“I don’t think when Rangers go to Celtic Park that there’s enough of a fear factor for Celtic going up against Dessers.

“I flip that the other way and I see every time Rangers go play Celtic the Rangers defence looks petrified at what Kyogo might do to them”.

Rangers need to sign a striker in January

Signing a number nine to challenge Dessers for the starting spot in the Gers’ team was supposed to be one of Clement’s priorities in the summer window.

Instead, the Nigeria international has ended up being the only logical choice within Ibrox to become their focal point, with Danilo still struggling to get fully fit.

Indeed, Hamza Igamane was brought in during the summer and even though there have been glimpses of quality on show from the Morocco international, he’s still not yet quite there in terms of starting.

Naturally, he is still young and has lots of time to hone his skills and improve as a player, but Clement needs to find a solution to his attacking problems right away or they risk losing the championship even more. Aberdeen and Celtic are both nine points ahead of Rangers in third place, and it’s doubtful that the Ibrox team will be able to stay competitive until they sign a striker in the January transfer window.
