Many may disagree with Ally McCoist’s “crazy” West Ham, Wolves decision.

According to Ally McCoist, supporters would not agree with his assessment that Wolves are doing better in the Premier League this season than West Ham. At the City Ground on Saturday [November 2], Julen Lopetegui had to start over as Nottingham Forest easily defeated his exhausted Hammers team 3-0.

When questioned if both teams had games they must win next weekend, McCoist said he thinks Gary O’Neil’s team has been less lucky than West Ham, despite Wolves sitting at the bottom of the league table after ten games without a victory. We’re approaching the point where they need to win games, but I doubt I’d go that far. On talkSPORT, he stated, “I’m a little more concerned for West Ham [4 November, 8:52am].” “I see Wolves gaining results, even though that may be a weird thing to say given that they are at the bottom of the league. I am worried about West Ham. In normal conditions, the starting front four is truly outstanding.

All I’m concerned about are those in the rear. They searched everywhere, but the sending off obviously didn’t help. Although some may argue, Wolves have been a bit more unfortunate than they have, therefore it’s a major worry for them.

For West Ham United, what needs to change? With defeats to Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Chelsea in the season’s first five games, Lopetegui had a difficult start to life in East London.

The Irons did not have a good run of fixtures, but the fact is that the team has not had a clear direction under the Spaniard. There is still no distinct identity at the London Stadium ten games later.

After his needless dismissal with West Ham behind by just one goal, Edson Alvarez added to the team’s suffering, making it a very difficult task for his colleagues going into the second half. Following Mohammed Kudus’ departure for aggressive behaviour during the 4-1 loss to Tottenham and Alvarez’s own dismissal against Liverpool in the EFL Cup, the Mexican’s dismissal was the Hammers’ third in six games.

The side’s conduct is becoming beyond a joke now for the supporters.

Lopetegui needs to take action while he still has the opportunity. Although he could have the backing of those outside the club, if the outcomes do not improve, it will not be long before he is fired. West Ham is displaying glimpses of the team they may develop under the Spaniard, but those outings are becoming quite infrequent, and the team is not benefiting from spending a lot of time on the field with just ten players.

The Hammers are just six points behind Ipswich Town and are in danger of dropping into a relegation battle this season. The club needs to win this game against Everton at Goodison Park, but if Lopetegui leaves East London without a victory, it might be the last straw for him.
