Arsenal have reportedly stated their interest in an emerging talent coming out of Celtic.Scottish clubs big and small have to be on their guard to try and convince their top talents that the SPFL is the best place for their development.
The lure of England can sometimes prove too much though and Celtic have been no stranger to this, Ben Doak a high-profile example of one star who left the Hoops early, joining Liverpool.
Now Arsenal want in on one of the hot prospects bubbling beneath the Parkhead surface. According to 67 Hail Hail, “Arsenal are keeping close tabs on creative wide player Rocco di Giacomo.” He can also play in the number 10 position.
It is stated that “the English giants have already taken a punt in sending their scouting team to focus on Scottish talent.” Currently 15, Giacomo is currently not old enough to pen professional terms with any club.
The Gunners have not been shy in trying to take some of the top talent from Scotland into their academy. St Johnstone’s teenage right-back Callan Hamill was permitted to head down from McDiarmid Park to the Emirates on trial as Arsenal looked to get ahead of the competition for his signature.
It goes on to state Giacomo “has a lot of promise and has been watched by the bigger sides in the EPL who are all monitoring him closely.” Daniel Kelly and Rocco Vata both left Celtic in the summer for England, joining Millwall and Watford respectively.
