Like many other clubs, Wolves has lost out on a good number of players throughout the summer window. In the past, Wolves had expressed interest in signing Ruben Dias from Benfica in 2019, but the player chose to join Manchester City for £62 million a year later because the asking price was too high.
Even further back, the Wanderers were on the verge of signing Ivan Toney while he was at Northampton, but Wolves called off the agreement due to an undisclosed medical ailment. After losing Max Kilman this summer, Gary O’Neil was unable to sign a new center back, and they are now dealing with the regret of that choice. However, they made sure to bolster the goalie position. On the day of the deadline, Sam Johnstone joined from Crystal Palace and has since taken Jose Sa’s number one jersey.
