Liverpool will host Bologna in the Champions League on Wednesday night in their first home game in the competition since February 2023 with Declan Rice expecting a special atmosphere
As Liverpool prepares for their first home Champions League game since February 2023, Declan Rice has been all over Anfield, calling it the best away atmosphere in the competition.
Last month, the Reds returned to winning form at the San Siro, defeating AC Milan 3-1. They will host Bologna, an Italian team, at Anfield on Wednesday night. A victory there would create a historic record for Arne Slot.
With one loss to Nottingham Forest being the only blemish on his record since taking over for Jurgen Klopp, he has the opportunity to make history as the first manager at Liverpool to collect eight victories from his first nine games in charge.
After a 20-month break, the Champions League anthem will once again resound in Anfield, and Arsenal and England player Rice ranks Liverpool’s home fans as the best in Europe—bar the Emirates Stadium, of course.
When asked which away stadium has the finest Champions League atmosphere during a shoot with Amazon, Rice responded, “I’d probably say Anfield.”
Following their match against Bologna, Liverpool will play in a restructured Champions League, which will see them travel to play RB Leipzig, Girona, and PSV Eindhoven and play home games against Lille, Real Madrid, and Bayer Leverkusen, according to the Liverpool Echo.
