At the moment, Liverpool’s attacking player squad is fantastic. In terms of attack, Mohamed Salah is undoubtedly the Reds’ best player, but his four backup players are also amazing.
This season, Luis Diaz has truly blossomed. Jermaine Beckford, in an interview with Premier League Productions, praised the Colombian striker for his impressive start to the season. In fact, Beckford believes that Diaz might match Sadio Mane’s goal-scoring prowess in this Liverpool squad if he can stay healthy throughout the season.
Luis Diaz could emulate Sadio Mane
Beckford made an exciting prediction about Diaz.
“If he’s able to maintiain his fitness throughout this season I could see him doing Sadio Mane’s numbers. He has that about him, he’s getting better, he’s really good in front of goal, his minutes per goal is 72.2 now,” Beckford said.
Luis Diaz is a starter
Luis Diaz hasn’t had the easiest of times at Liverpool since arriving at the club.
Of course, he’s won trophies and he’s played brilliantly, but due to injuries and competition for places, he’s often been in and out of the team.
However, that’s now changed.
Indeed, Diaz now looks like he’s one of the first names on the Liverpool teamsheet, and the real battle is now between Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo for a starting berth through the middle.
So far, Arne Slot has shown a great deal of faith in Diaz, and the winger is rapidly living up to that faith. Now that he is prepared to step up for Liverpool, Diaz could surprise everyone by surpassing opponent Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the scoring standings this year. It looks like Diaz will have his greatest season yet with Liverpool.
