Liverpool is off to a great start in the new season, and things are looking up under new manager Arne Slot. The Dutch manager has led Anfield to four victories out of their opening five Premier League games, which is a respectable start to his stay.
In all those wins, Liverpool have kept a clean sheet and showed that they could be one of the contenders for the Premier League title.
Even in their Champions League win against AC Milan, they completely outplayed the Serie A giants and showed how far and superior they are to the Italian side.
The only issue facing the club at the moment, and it is a major issue, is the contract situation of Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The three most important players of the club are set to become free agents at the end of the season and that has worried the Liverpool faithful.
Football pundit Darren Bent has warned the Premier League giants that they risk absolute turmoil if they allow one of those three players to leave the club.
While speaking on talkSPORT, Bent discussed the importance of Van Dijk in the Liverpool team and how much they would struggle without him.
“If they lost Van Dijk, they would be in absolute turmoil, Liverpool, without him,” said Bent.
“I like (Jarell) Quansah, I like (Ibrahima) Konate. I think they are both very good. I like (Joe) Gomez.
“Put them together without Virgil next year, a completely different kettle of fish.”
Liverpool cannot afford to lose Virgil Van Dijk
It is true that Van Dijk is the leader of the Liverpool team and without him not only their defense but their whole team would struggle.
He is a consistent performer for the Reds and makes sure that he guards the goal with authority.
In his absence, the Reds have struggled big time, as seen in the past and after his departure, they would struggled to replace him and find quality and experience like him in the market.
His signing changed the fortunes of the club and his departure in the future could do the same but in a negative way.
