In light of the Ajax issue, Jordan Henderson acknowledges that Wolves’ acquisition of Carlos Forbs was “not ideal.”

Carlos Forbs’ summer transfer has consequences, and Wolves have been informed of them on deadline day. When Sam Johnstone, Andre, and Forbs were welcomed on the last day of the summer transfer market, the Old Gold did it in style.

Although Matt Hobbs and Gary O’Neil had intended to bolster the team during the summer at Molineux, on-field improvements are still being made. Wolves is at the bottom of the Premier League table with just one point after the first five games of the season.

Jordan Henderson opens up about Wolves signing Carlos Forbs

For fans at Molineux, it feels like Wolves are the only club enduring a rough start this term, with the squad seemingly unable to put together a strong 90 minutes.

The Old Gold are not the only team that has had a less than ideal start; Ajax is also having trouble in the Netherlands. This summer, Wolves and Ajax were level after O’Neil welcomed Forbs to Molineux on deadline day and signed the winger on loan from the Dutch powerhouses. Jordan Henderson recently discussed how much his team is missing Forbs and how things haven’t been going well for Ajax since his departure.

In a press conference held after Ajax’s tie with Go Ahead Eagles, Henderson stated, “It’s not ideal to lose one or two of your wingers on the final day of the transfer market.” We’ve become less good. But it was doable with the men that played today. They need our assistance to meet with people one-on-one, but they brought nothing. It needs to be better—it’s not just about the wingers. Henderson was referring to the exits of Forbs and Steven Bergwijn, who were Ajax’s two most important players and without whom they were unable to generate much in wide areas.

Gary O’Neil should start utilising Forbs

It’s been a slow start at Wolves for Forbs, who is waiting to get a firm chance to impress O’Neil due to competition in the squad.

The winger has played 13 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, most recently being an unused substitute during the Old Gold’s defeat to Aston Villa.

The Portuguese forward came on at the Amex to try and make an impression in the Carabao Cup match against Brighton, demonstrating the menace he can give when called upon. Forbs, whose loan from Ajax will become a buy obligation if O’Neil gives him ten starts, which now appears improbable, is in for an intriguing season. The manager needs to make changes to his starting lineup because Wolves needs to produce results. This might pave the way for players like Forbs in the near future.
