Rangers have been fined £12,000 by UEFA as a result of their Champions League playoff match at Hampden against Dinamo Kyiv. On the field, Philippe Clement’s team had a terrible night as they were thrashed 2-0 by the Ukrainian team, missing out on the £40 million prize in the league phase.
However, the Light Blues were sent into the redesigned Europa League thanks to two goals in the dying minutes after Jefte’s red card.
Furthermore, after releasing their most recent sanctions for clubs following a string of rule violations, the governing body of European football has now chosen to take action against the club in response to off-field incidents at the national stadium.
UEFA has filed accusations for “blocking of public passageways” in accordance with rule Article 38. For the incident, Rangers were fined €12,000 (£10,500). The club will play their first league match against Malmo the following week to begin the league phase of their European campaign.
