Rangers Ibrox return: 27 retro pictures of the Gers home stadium over the years ahead of return vs Dundee

130 days after their final match at the storied stadium, Rangers will make their way back to Ibrox this weekend to take on Dundee in the Premier Sports Cup. For this weekend’s Premier Sports Cup quarterfinal matchup between Rangers and Dundee, supporters will be able to reenter the stadium for the first time in almost four months. The team, which plays all of its home games at Hampden Park on Glasgow’s south side, hasn’t allowed spectators to enter the stadium since May 14 due to a huge hold-up in construction of their Copland Road Stand caused by a delay in materials arriving from overseas.

The Copland Road stand will only be partially accessible this weekend, but the club will nonetheless welcome supporters back to the stadium for the match against Dundee now that the field has been judged safe to enter. Among the most well-known stadiums in Scotland, it has played host to a number of athletic events, including the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Over the years, it has also featured performances by some of the largest musical acts in the world, including Simple Minds and Harry Styles. These 27 images will transport you back in time to Ibrox Stadium and its environs throughout the years.
