CHUKWU shatters the record for Canada’s youth international goal scoring.

When Annabelle Chukwu scored her 28th career goal in just 34 games while playing for the U-15 to U-20 levels, she broke the record for most goals scored by Canadian young international teams. Chukwu tied the previous record-holder Christine Sinclair in the 24th minute of the FIFA U-20 World Cup Colombia 2024 with her 27th goal, broke the record in the 34th minute with her second goal of the game, and completed a hat trick in the 41st minute with her 29th career goal. The team defeated Fiji 9:0. In just her 28th youth international game, Olivia Smith, a teammate, scored her 25th and 26th goals in her career that same evening. Smith is ranked third all-time, after Sinclair and Chukwu.

Sinclair, who departed from football in 2023, scored 27 goals in 19 youth international games between 2001 and 2002, ranging from the U-19 to the U-21 divisions. When she scored ten goals at the first FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship Canada 2002, she established a competition record that is still in place. In 2022, Chukwu made her debut in the Canadian youth program at the age of fifteen. She scored two goals in 2022, seventeen in 2023, and ten in 2024. She has scored two goals in friendly games, five goals in FIFA competitions, and twenty-two goals in Concacaf competitions. Chukwu has participated in club competitions for Canada Soccer’s National Development Center in Ontario and Ottawa South United.

She participated in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in India and the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia as a representative of Canada.
