Chief of Honduras queries Palma’s insufficient playing time at Celtic

Manager of Honduras Reinaldo Rueda has demanded a resolution to the issue surrounding Luis Palma’s insufficient playing time for Celtic.

This season, the 24-year-old has found it difficult to establish himself as a regular member of the Hoops starting lineup because of a combination of injuries and having to deal with colleagues who are playing at an elite level.

Palma has only played 36 minutes this season due to his recuperation from an ankle knock sustained during the first game against Kilmarnock.

He started neither of Celtic’s 3-0 victories over St. Mirren or Rangers; instead, Brendan Rodgers started Daizen Maeda, James Forrest, and Nicolas Kuhn on the bench.

When Honduras’ manager Reinaldo Rueda spoke to the media prior to his team’s CONCACAF Nations League match against Jamaica on Tuesday, he was asked if Palma would start. “Luis is recuperating; it’s not easy for me, for you [the press], or for the fans,” he remarked.

Palma is carrying an additional burden due to his participation in a highly prestigious league. “But the fact remains that [Palma] did not play five straight games from February to September. He has changed. It’s difficult for the athlete to grasp, and it’s more harder for you [the press] and the fans. This is the circumstance, and we must resolve it.

Rueda also urged the Honduran media to lessen Palma’s workload on the national squad. He uttered, “You have to assist me in relieving Palma of the pressure.” The team won’t be saved by Palma.

We play without Palma and without Anthony Lozano, the leader of the team. Because they are dedicated and professional, you should give them some space to work. In the Hondurans’ 4-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago over the weekend, Palma provided an assist for Edwin Rodriguez’s goal, raising his outstanding assist total to nine in nine games played under Rueda.

The 24-year-old left Greek team Aris FC in the summer of 2017 to sign a five-year contract with Celtic for a figure of £3.5 million. In less than a week, Champions League football will resume, and Palma will be hoping to give Brendan Rodgers something to ponder. The domestic schedule is about to get up.
