With regard to Commanders’ allegations of having an ex-VP, Keyshawn Johnson stands up for Jerry Jones.

After a leaked tape surfaced that contained a number of accusations against Jerry Jones, the longtime owner of the Dallas Cowboys, the legendary Keyshawn Johnson stood up for Jones.

It’s simply absurd. You begin discussing how Jerry Jones genuinely has no affinity for Black people. Man, please just stop. I am unable to answer that since I was not mistreated and I never felt that he or his family posed a serious threat to me. He claimed Jerry Jones was a racist and that his players were ignorant and homophobic. Roger Goodell is a puppet, fans are drinkers, and the league’s social justice efforts are theatrical.

Rael Enteen, the Washington Commanders’ former vice president of content, was sacked earlier this week after a video including numerous derogatory remarks regarding Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, NFL players, and fans surfaced. Enteen was with an undercover reporter when he mistakenly believed he was out on a date. Jared Dubin of CBS Sports reports that Enteen is the one who published the following comments from the leaked video.

More than half of our members are pious white people, and God says, “F— the gays.” Their analysis. I don’t believe a word of that, Enteen was audibly saying. Low-income African Americans who come from a community that is fundamentally homophobic make up another sizable portion. Upon being questioned over the video, Jones promptly refuted all of the allegations made by Yahoo Sports. “I rejected it right away. didn’t give it a second thought,” Jones claimed. Really? I didn’t give it any more attention because it’s so incorrect and out of context. And it’s absurd, so I hope nobody does.

The Commanders fired Enteen shortly after the video was made public, saying in a brief statement that the language in the video “runs counter to our values at the Commanders organization.” We will not be commenting further at this time and have suspended the employee while we conduct an inquiry. In 2005–2006, Johnson spent his last two seasons as a player with the Cowboys. In 2003, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl, marking the culmination of his career that included over 10,000 receiving yards and 64 touchdowns.

Cowboys, Jerry Jones have bigger problems looming

Winning games is the only thing that can divert the media’s attention from the lengthy Cowboys offseason. The focus has been on this deal, that contract, this decision, and that throughout the entire summer. There are contracts expiring for Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott. On August 26, CeeDee Lamb ultimately signed a four-year, $136 million contract to wrap up his negotiations.

Prescott assured fans recently that both sides are working on getting a deal done, as per his words to ESPN.

“I’d say they’re working,” Prescott said. “I don’t know if that’s necessarily the timeline (of getting it done over the weekend). I can’t say, ‘I’ll put a timeline to Todd and Stephen if we don’t get this done,’ this or that. But I know they’re working.”

Without any reassurance or job security for key pieces like Prescott and Mike McCarthy, it’s hard to imagine the Cowboys working through all the media pressures.

Winning will help take the pressure off as the Cowboys travel to face the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 on Sunday, September 8 at 4:25 p.m. EST.
