Steven Gerrard ‘plotted another Rangers reunion’ at Al-Ettifaq

Utilizing his extensive network of contacts, the former Ibrox manager has been in Saudi Arabia. Jim McAllister, a former Rangers kitman, was recruited to Ettifaq by Gerrard, while coach Tom Culshaw also relocated to the Middle East to collaborate with the former Liverpool captain. As part of Gerrard’s plan, Andy Firth, who signed with Rangers, also joined the Saudi Pro League team as a goalkeeping coach.

Gerrard also utilised his Liverpool links with Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum signing for the club under his management.

The former Rangers manager even signed two former Celtic players at Al-Ettifaq with Moussa Dembele and Jack Hendry major arrivals in his first transfer window.

Now, it’s been reported that Gerrard had ambitions to make a transfer move for Fashion Sakala – another player he first signed at Rangers.

According to The Scottish Sun, rumours in Suadi Arabia are rife over interest from Gerrard in a reunion with the Zambian forward. Speculation had broken out on Monday over a possible move for Sakala from Al-Fayha to Ettifaq to work with Gerrard. Any move would have to be facilitated by a transfer exit for one of Ettifaq’s foreign players with Demerai Gray a contender to leave the club during the window. However, no move materialised for Gray and he remains part of the Ettifaq squad this season. After facing Gerrard out in Saudi Arabia, Sakala met his former manager following a goalless draw
