David Edgar believes Ianis Hagi will reach an agreement over reduced terms at Rangers
After the controversy surrounding his arrival at Ibrox this summer, David Edgar thinks Ianis Hagi and Rangers can come to an understanding over shorter terms. The 25-year-old’s present contract has a clause that, should he play a specific amount of games for the Gers, may result in a £6,000 weekly wage increase [Daily Record]. After returning from his season-long loan with Deportivo Alaves, the Romanian has been practicing with the Gers B team, although he has stated that he wants to stay at Ibrox. The creator of Heart and Hand responded via X [30 August] when asked if Hagi and Rangers could come to a new arrangement, saying, “I think so, yes.” Ianis Hagi will stay at Rangers following the turmoil at Ibrox?
The transfer saga surrounding Hagi and a potential move away has been draining for everyone at the Scottish club, which could make it difficult for him to earn back the trust of the fans.
Nevertheless, after turning down offers to return to Romania, the midfielder is obviously anxious to stay with the Scottish team this summer. According to the Daily Record, it was thought that the player’s contract may be terminated because he was no longer needed by Philippe Clement, but it appears that he will remain with the team.
Hopefully, the Albanian international will finally be the man to do that.
He won’t be able to play in the season’s opening Old Firm game against Celtic, but he should be well-rested and prepared to go following the international break.
