Due to this, Wednesday was a busy day for the Chiefs on the waiver wire, as they chose to trade one former Dallas Cowboy cornerback for another.
Eric Scott, a former Dallas cornerback, was claimed by the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. This occurs just one day after Cowboys player Kelvin Joseph was waived.
Although he didn’t play last season, Scott was selected by the Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He has nevertheless had a really successful preseason this summer.
The Southern Miss product finished with two pass deflections, one interception, and six total tackles.
In the preseason, Joseph amassed 11 tackles, one forced fumble, and one pass deflection. The Chiefs chose to trade for this former Cowboy instead because they liked what they saw in Scott better.
For the 2024 campaign, Kansas City has been looking for additional depth in the secondary, and Scott might be someone who seizes the chance.
Although the Chiefs website lists Trent McDuffie and Joshua Williams as the starting lineup, injuries may happen in the NFL, so you never know who will have to fill in. Kansas City is currently pleased with what they saw on tape and is eager to see more in person.
