Kris Boyd believes that Celtic heavy favourites to win Sunday’s Glasgow Derby.
The former striker for Kilmarnock will be a key part of Sky Sports’ coverage of the game as the Hoops attempt to keep their perfect SPFL record and take an early five-point lead over their local rivals.
The £28 million trade of Matt O’Riley to Brighton has been the only setback in Celtic’s nearly perfect start to the season.
Paulo Bernardo was introduced into the midfield by Brendan Rodgers against St. Mirren on Sunday, and the visitors easily defeated the team that finished in fifth place the previous season, winning 3-0.
As Sky starts preparing for Sunday’s game, the majority of the data points to a home victory, and Boyd finds it difficult to find a weakness.
REPORTER: What sort of place are Celtic in?
KB:
Very good, I think that the performances, since the start of the season, even going back to pre-season, they have started the season really well, scoring goals, moving the ball well.
I mean yeah look at it, they have options with Idah and Kyogo at the top end of the pitch as well .
You know, they are in a good place. Hatate has been excellent since the start of the season, Callum McGregor, Maeda in the picture there as well, have been causing real problems.
Obviously the loss of O’Riley, for me, I don’t think that they’ll be able to replace someone like Matt O’Riley, quickly.
Bernardo is already in there but he is a totally different player to Matt O’Riley hence the reason why you get that type of move to the English Premiership.
So I think, looking at it right now , Celtic are heavy favourites and rightly so with the way that they have started but you just never know.
Celtic don’t appear to have any injury worries from the win over St Mirren with Kyogo Furuhashi and Nicolas Kuhn coming on as second half substitutes after missing part of training last week.
