But after months of negotiations over his departure, they have finally lost outstanding player O’Riley, and that means they will have a sizable sum of money to support Rodgers in the last few days of the window. Brekalo has been connected to the Hoops, and with the deadline approaching, sources from Italy imply that the team may try to sign the former Bundesliga player.

The Croatian is likely to depart Fiorentina in the coming days, with the club using the potential money garnered for his services to register some incomings of their own.
Clubs in the Italian top-flight have made loan offers for Brekalo, who has been described as a “baller”, and that has pushed Celtic to the back of the suspected queue as they have so far failed to come forward with a concrete approach.
Rodgers’ team might acquire him on a short-term basis, and the Hornets have time to submit a bid. They might even beat out Rangers, who are rivals in the transfer market. Last week, there were rumors that the Gers were also interested in signing the former Wolfsburg player on a short-term contract.
