Wolves is anticipated to have a hectic last week of the summer transfer market, with multiple players being linked.
Although Gary O’Neil’s team is set to part ways with several players before the transfer window ends, there will be more attention focused on departures.
Daniel Podence is one name that has been connected to a move away and is drawing interest from a number of clubs. The winger made an impression when on loan at Olympiacos, his previous team, and the 28-year-old’s desire to rejoin them has been made apparent.a1 cb
Olympiacos fans called for Daniel Podence in first home game of the season
On Monday evening, Olympiacos played their first home game against Kallithea, winning 2-1 to add to their opening day league win.
While supporters were focused on the game, those attending the match made it clear what they want to see their club do before deadline day.
As reported by journalist Konstantinos Lianos, Olymapicos fans were singing Podence’s name during the fixture, signalling that they want the winger to return to the club permanently this summer.
Although the Greek side hasn’t made an official approach, Lianos said Olympiacos has expressed “strong interest and talks” about signing the Wolves star.
Fans’ excitement for their club to reconnect with Podence is understandable given that he won the Europa Conference League and scored a whopping 28 goals when back on loan the previous season.
Wolves have several names to offload
At the start of the summer, it seemed certain that Podence would leave Molineux after being sent on loan by O’Neil last year.
Now that the season has started and the 28-year-old spent the majority of pre-season around the squad, a transfer has become less obvious.
That doesn’t mean to say that Podence won’t be axed however, O’Neil seems to be considering what the winger could offer, having played him in both of Wolves’ opening two Premier League fixtures.
The future of several Wolves players is in doubt, including Goncalo Guedes and Fabio Silva, in addition to the Portugal international.
With an eye toward the remaining games of the season, Matt Hobbs and O’Neil will have to make judgments regarding all three players, who spent the 2023–24 season on loan.
Podence would undoubtedly satisfy Olympiacos supporters if he returned to Piraeus, and Wolves are reported to ask for a sum in the neighborhood of £10 million for him.
