With a £12 million star, a TNT analyst believes Nottingham Forest has struck gold.

Nottingham Forest defeated Southampton 1-0 at St Mary’s Stadium Sunday to record their first victory of the 2024–25 season.

With 20 minutes left, Morgan Gibbs-White scored the game’s lone goal, moving Forest up to fifth place in the Premier League.

After the match, Nuno Espirito Santo was all praise for his skipper, and Gibbs-White is excellent for the 2024–2025 season.

Nikola Milenkovic made his debut for Forest yesterday. Fans were confused by his suspension last week after he was shown red in an Italian Cup match in April.

The Serbian player was on fire yesterday on the south coast, and a maiden goal for Forest today would have been a fitting way to top off his debut.

Adam Summerton is gushing about the Nottingham Forest player The TNT Sports pundit, who is well-known for covering Italian football, was all over Milenkovic following yesterday’s match. The guy, a tough-tackling international from Serbia, performed admirably in his first Forest appearance.

At central defense, he performed quite well with Murillo, and Summerton believes their partnership has a lot of potential. “Not surprised to hear lots of praise for Milenkovic – that could be some partnership with Murillo, complimentary skill-sets,” the pundit on X stated.

Milenkovic is only 26-years-old but he’s already been to two World Cups with his country and reached two European finals with Fiorentina.

Milenkovic will prove to be a wise addition to Forest. Evangelos Marinakis has left the hiring staff alone this summer, and it has paid off, despite what some detractors may claim. When the season is over, Milenkovic’s £12 million price tag might look like a complete bargain.

The defender can help Forest from set pieces thanks to his aerial skill, and he shown yesterday that he can also play out from the back.

Summerton is also correct regarding Murillo. Although the Brazilian may need to work on his defensive skills, Milenkovic will benefit from his ball-playing abilities.

Forest are still a work in progress but with Milenkovic at the back, perhaps there is real reason to be excited about the team this season.
