Propper doubt could see veteran return as McCausland set for switch – how Rangers could line up vs Ross County

At least when it comes to league competition, Rangers may be playing their last game at Hampden this afternoon! In an effort to reopen Ibrox in time for the Premier Sports Cup last eight matchup with Dundee the following month, club officials may return the keys to the national stadium as early as this weekend, as Record Sport exclusively revealed earlier this week. The goal date to return to Govan was set for the September 29 match against Hibs; however, the team is putting in a lot of effort to get fans back a week ahead of schedule. So far this season, the Light Blues supporters have traveled to Mount Florida for three games in the league, the Champions League qualifying round, and also the League Cup. If this is to be the final league outing in the southside for Philippe Clement and his troops then he will be bidding to go out on a high – but the Rangers boss does face some selection questions ahead of hosting Ross County.

The Belgian verified Leon Balogun’s fitness during his media duties. With Robin Propper doubtful for the Staggies’ visit, it should be an easy selection, since John Souttar has so far shown himself to be the reliable name at the back. Jefte will continue to play on the left side, as Ridvan Yilmaz is still out. To cover the left flank position, though, Ross McCausland’s versatility may be required as Rabbio Matondo is rumored to be leaving Ibrox to join Blackburn Rovers, while Scott Wright is also questionable due to a muscle problem.

“Leon Balogun is fit again and trained all week; Robin [Propper] is a doubt for tomorrow but he will be fit for next week,” Clement said to the reporters. Given that Oscar Cortes will be back the following week, we don’t want to take any longer-term chances. “Scott Wright is also doubtful due to a minor muscle ailment, but hopefully by next week, everyone save Ridvan will be back.” Hamza Igamane has trained for the past three days, while Nico Raskin trained with the team today. These are positive developments.”
