A Sky Sports analyst believes that a “phenomenal” Wolves target would be a better choice than José Sa

The summer transfer window will close in less than a week, and Wolves is running out of time to make some important squad additions.

The 18-year-old defender Bastien Meupiyou will soon become Wolves’ fourth addition to the team, but there are still a number of serious problems.

The most urgent are important replacements for Pedro Neto, a winger, and captain Max Kilman, who were sold for a total £94 million.

In a positive transfer update, Gary O’Neil hinted that there is no “financial limit” to their expenditure, giving rise to hopes that some of that cash may be returned to the team.

Since then, Wolves have designated Carlos Forbs as their “priority” replacement for Neto. While they are considering adding a defender, these are not the only positions that could use reinforcement.

Michael Dawson believes Aaron Ramsdale, a target for the Wolves, would be an improvement over Jose Sa The Old Gold have also made inquiries about recruiting Aaron Ramsdale, the goalkeeper for Arsenal, who was surpassed by David Raya in the previous season.

Ramsdale is trying to find a way out of the Emirates in order to play regular first-team football, after he only made six Premier League appearances for the Gunners last season.

The 26-year-old should sign for Wolves, according to former goalkeeper Emi Martinez, who called it a “good move” for both sides.

Likewise, Sky Sports pundit Michael Dawson shared a similar viewpoint and he believes that Ramsdale would be an ‘improvement’ on current first-choice Jose Sa.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (24/08/2024 12:11 pm), Dawson said: “Is he an improvement on Jose Sa? Yeah, he is. Jose Sa has been a very good goalkeeper for Wolves. We are speculating about this and obviously Wolves are looking at it, the option of taking him there.”

Since arriving in 2021, Sa has mostly been the number one at Molineux and was vital for O’Neil in 2023/24. Therefore, it’s surprising for Dawson to suggest he’s an upgrade in that department.

Wolves don’t need to sign another goalkeeper

Some supporters have aimed criticism towards the Portuguese shot-stopper, as his distribution can often let him down and he can be quite erratic.

However, Sa committed his long-term future to the club in September last year, with the 31-year-old signing a four-year contract.

That is despite the gloveman attracting interest from abroad, with multiple Saudi clubs wanting to land the Portuguese goalkeeper.

At the moment, it isn’t a priority for Wolves to sign a goalkeeper and a move for the ‘phenomenal’ Ramsdale to Molineux isn’t well suited to the promises he’s after.

The Englishman desires to play every single week. He’d have to wait with Sa between the sticks. Therefore, Ramsdale’s transfer is only feasible if the former Olympiacos goalie departs, which is improbable given the length of the transfer window.
