Rangers are after a €7 million defender, while Celtic has made a “submit offer” for the France Under-19 player.

As we approach the last week of the transfer market, Celtic and Rangers are both trying to bolster their rosters. Despite spending £8.5 million plus a further £1 million to sign Adam Idah from Norwich City last week, the Hoops have plenty of cash in hand.

Rangers, on the other hand, are significantly attached to the departure of players like Ianis Hagi, Todd Cantwell, and Rabbi Matondo, meaning they must ship off players before they can add more.

According to the most recent transfer rumors on Friday morning, both Old Firm teams are said to have made bids for promising young internationals who are now playing for clubs in France and Spain.

Celtic is reportedly trying to recruit Mahamadou Diawara, a midfield player for Lyon, but Ligue 1 teams like Nantes and Lens are putting up a fight.

With 12 first-team appearances under his credit, the 19-year-old earned his senior debut at Lyon in October of last year. Also, he has three caps for the France Under-19 team.

The teenage player from Paris Saint-Germain is under contract until 2028, but Celtic wants to work out a deal that would allow him to transfer to Parkhead before the August 30 deadline.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Rangers’ offer for Almeria center-back Kaiky was turned down.

When he made his breakthrough at Santos as a teenager, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea are said to have expressed interest in the 20-year-old Brazilian youth international, who has been dubbed the “next Marquinhos.” However, since moving to Almeria in 2022 for €7 million, he has failed to establish himself as a regular member of the first squad.

He has made 16 appearances in La Liga. The previous season, he was loaned to Albacete in the Segunda División de España.

Rangers made an offer to loan the center-back for €750k (£635k), with the option to buy for €7 million (£6m) and a 30% sell-on clause, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

But Almeria, who were demoted from La Liga the previous season, rejected the offer, so Rangers now have to decide whether to come back with a better one.
