Blackburn Rovers set to beat Leeds United to Rangers player
The Daily Mail claims Leeds United had interest in the youngster and that he was considered as a possible Elland Road option. But Rovers appear to be winning the race to sign him, as John Eustace might have some room to maneuver in the transfer market after selling Sammie Szmodics, allowing him to spend a respectable chunk of money. After Szmodics was reportedly sold to Ipswich Town for £10 million, Rovers could have a chance to add some quality players before the transfer window ends on August 30. Following the departure of several important players from Elland Road in recent months, Leeds is another team that may spend a significant number of money during the remaining summer transfer window.
In addition to Archie Gray, Glen Kamara, Crysencio Summerville, and Georginio Rutter securing exits for large sums of money, Daniel Farke’s budget would have increased with the sales of Diego Llorente, Marc Roca, and Charlie Cresswell. It’s hardly surprising that they’ve been connected to several wide players considering that they lost key player Summerville this summer and saw Jaidon Anthony return to AFC Bournemouth after his loan period ended.
Jonathan Rowe was one of their targets, but he is set for a move to Marseille, and the Whites have also taken an interest in Manuel Benson and Roland Sallai.
It remains to be seen who arrives in West Yorkshire before the end of the window, but it doesn’t look as though Motondo will be making the move to Elland Road.
Blackburn Rovers set to recruit Rabbi Matondo
Eustace needs more attacking quality after the departure of Szmodics – and Matondo is one player who could potentially come in to strengthen Rovers’ attack.
It’s very unlikely that they will be able to secure an adequate replacement for their former forward before the window closes, with the player scoring 27 league goals last season.
However, they could add more quality to their attack and share their goals out between many members of the first team to fill the void that Szmodics has created with his departure.
The 23-year-old Matondo scored six goals and contributed four assists in 31 competitive games the previous season, and he may have done enough to earn a spot in the summer roster. With the 23-year-old seems ready to win a move to Lancashire, where he will have another chance to prove his value in England, his efforts from the previous season surely seemed to have paid off.Matondo, who is still only 23 years old, will only get stronger. In light of this, he might be a great addition for both on- and off-field purposes. He might try to fill the vacuum left by Szmodics’ departure on the field by scoring a lot of goals and providing plenty of assists. He might bring in a tidy profit for Rovers off the field in the future. The Lancashire club may benefit greatly from this possible signing.
