Elon Musk urged to bid for Ibrox renaming rights in viral Rangers call
After jokingly pushing billionaire X owner Elon Musk to buy the name rights to the team’s Ibrox Stadium in Govan, a cheeky fan of the Rangers went viral.
Since rebranding social media giant Twitter as X and paying £44 billion to acquire the platform, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has gained notoriety. His candid opinions have sparked numerous debates, the most recent of which involved an altercation with former Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf. The South African-born business magnate has an estimated net worth of £250 billion, so money is not a shortage for him. X user @Bairdric1 jokingly suggested that Musk use some of it to rename the Rangers’ renowned home field ‘IbroX’ as part of a branding agreement. On the social media site, his tweet has received over a thousand likes, indicating that many followers agree with the recommendation. He posted: “Alright, @elonmusk, stop ****ing about when it’s time to reach in your Right @elonmusk, no more ****ing about time to get your hand in your deep pockets. Renaming our stadium IbroX is the most logical branding deem in marketing history.
“Get it done and **** off Humza at the same time.”
Unlike many stadiums in the UK, including those owned by big clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City, Ibrox has never had a naming rights sponsor and Rangers have always resisted the idea in the past.
