Strong speculations suggest that Wolves want to add a new goalkeeper to their roster ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
Since Rui Patricio left the team three seasons ago, Jose Sa has been the Old Gold’s first choice in goal.
At the conclusion of the 2021–2022 season, the Portuguese international was named the Wolves Player of the Season.
He has had considerable success thus far. But there have been persistent rumors over the summer that Gary O’Neil wants to bolster his goalkeeping staff.
Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal has been connected to Wolves on a regular basis in 2024. Furthermore, it was rumored earlier this week that the Old Gold made a proposal for Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas.
A few days before the new campaign officially launches, journalist Liam Keen has now discussed Sa’s future.
Jose Sa is set to stay at Wolves
Before the transfer window closes, supporters are hoping that some positions receive reinforcements in the upcoming weeks.
Anybody expecting a new first-team goalkeeper to replace Sa, though, might be disappointed. Keen remarked, “I’ve spoken all summer saying that there is every chance that Sa could go and it depends on the player,” to Robbie Meakin. “He’s kind of fancy moving,” but then he’s changed his mind or a move doesn’t happen, so he’s stayed put in previous summers when he’s mentioned that.
“Wolves will need a respectable replacement once the season has begun, so at this point I would be surprised if it happened.” They’ll be glad to start the season with Jose since, in my opinion, the goalkeeping department is a tricky spot and nothing will happen there.
Jose Sa is a great Wolves goalkeeper
Perhaps one of Wolves’ most underappreciated players is Sa. The goalie more than makes up for his rare errors over the season with a number of incredible saves.
Throughout the 2023–24 season, there were numerous instances where the Portuguese international seemed to accomplish the seemingly impossible, including his outstanding save against Everton that allowed O’Neil to win his first Premier League game at Wolves.
Sa might be improved with a different goalie, but given the club’s limited resources, other improvements must be made.
