Similar to Matheus Cunha, Wolves are currently “looking at” replacing Pedro Neto for £8.5 million.

After the winger moved to Chelsea, Pedro Neto, Wolves are looking for a successor. Pedro Neto’s rumored £54 million deal from Wolves to Chelsea was revealed on Sunday.

The five-year relationship between the Portugal international and the Midlands club came to an end after months of uncertainty over his future. With one name already known, Gary O’Neil is in a rush to find a worthy successor for the winger.

In the running to succeed Pedro Neto, Wolves have Yoane Wissa in mind. Even though Neto was essentially unplayable on his Wolves day, it will be challenging to find a direct replacement; still, a positional match needs to be found before the deadline.

Mike McGrath, a journalist, stated on Wednesday that Yoane Wissa of Brentford is one contender to take the forward’s spot.

According to McGrath, negotiations over a potential trade are still underway, and Wolves are “looking at” Wissa among other candidates to replace Neto. Wissa joined the Bees in 2021 for a comparatively small £8.5 million, and since then, his play in the last third of the pitch has impressed many in the Premier League.

Brentford must decide whether to make an official offer for the Democratic Republic of Congo international, as his contract is scheduled to expire in 2026. O’Neil would find it exciting to pursue the adaptable forward Wissa in order to bolster the front line, especially considering his Premier League experience.

Wissa would be a good fit for Gary O’Neil

Last season, the Brentford ace contributed to 15 goals in 34 Premier League appearances, scoring 12 and assisting three.

From his searing pace to his eye for goal, Wissa would be a smart player for Wolves to now target in a bid to replace Neto before deadline day.

Capable of playing in most of the roles across the front line of attack, Wissa’s dynamic playing style could fit O’Neil’s set-up perfectly.

Interestingly, the 27-year-old is listed as being statistically comparable to Matheus Cunha, via FBref, telling of how positive acquiring his services could be this summer.

The pair are keen dribblers of the ball, both being blessed with pace and having an eye for playmaking and scoring, something that O’Neil is in need of after losing Neto.

In the argument of eyeing a replacement for the Portugal international, Wissa is a strong candidate based on the fact he is a more prolific goalscorer than the departed winger, who netted more goals last season than Neto has in his Premier League career.

Only time will tell how much Brentford value their forward at and whether Wolves have the funds to match such price.
