Wolves is still looking to add players before the deadline, so Gary O’Neil’s work in the summer transfer window is far from done.
Gary O’Neil announced this week that Wolves will reenter the transfer market in order to bolster the squad after saying goodbye to Pedro Neto.
The winger became the second first-team player to depart the team this summer after Max Kilman, when he was sold to Chelsea for £54 million.
In addition to replacing those who have left, O’Neil might be getting close to resolving a problem that will benefit his side going forward.
Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas is a target for Wolves. Jose Sa, who has a 2027 contract with Molineux, is another regular player whose name has been linked to a move.
The 31-year-old attracted interest from Saudi Arabia the previous season, and concerns about his future have surfaced again as it is reported that Sa is prepared to leave Wolves.
Thus, it would be wise for Wolves to start looking for a new goalie who might eventually take Sa’s place in the Midlands.
It’s interesting to note that Wolves are reportedly considering Christos Mandas, a shot stopper for Lazio who is also coveted by Southampton, according to reports this week from Corriere Dello Sport.
According to the report, the 22-year-old would accept a bid of €20 million (£17 million) to join the Premier League.
Mandas might be the best option among the goalkeepers connected to Wolves. Wolves were also connected to Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal this summer, although he is no longer popular in North London.
O’Neil’s prospects of signing Ramsdale are small because Arsenal is rumored to value its number two at an astonishing £50 million, despite the Old Gold’s admiration for the Englishman.
As a result, Mandas might be a wise substitute; the Greek goalkeeper earned a high reputation at Lazio due to his inconsistent play last season.
The Serie A star, who made nine appearances in the Italian top level last season, was hailed as “exceptional” by scouting gurus Youth Scout1ng on X.
During that period, the young player shown that he was a prospect who should be considered first-team material by surrendering an average of just 0.7 goals per game, according to Sofascore.
Given that Mandas is displaying all the makings of a premier player, Wolves might be wise to recruit Sa’s replacement before the Portugal international actually leaves.
