From the Wolves walkout to the record-breaking spree of West Ham

Because of a lack of support in the transfer market, new West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui quit his former position at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

But the former Real Madrid manager’s luck has turned around, and he is currently enjoying the fruits of an unparalleled spending binge that has seen West Ham sign elite players.

Director of football for the Hammers Tim Steidten has strengthened every aspect of the team with his relentless pursuit of transfers.

Steidten’s recruitment work rate has been exceptional, and he has occasionally given the impression of being in two places at once.

This transfer window is beyond anything I could have ever dreamed of as a Hammers supporter. For Lopetegui, the difference in the last year has been striking.

He left Wolves a year ago for lack of support, but at the beginning of this season, he finds himself in command of a team that has been entirely rebuilt in his likeness. Amazing.
