Cowboys training camp: Jalen Cropper making his case for reps
We are getting close. The Dallas Cowboys will play live at SoFi Stadium on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams in a matter of days. Before facing off in each team’s preseason opener, the Cowboys will host Los Angeles for a team workout on Thursday. Before we get ahead of ourselves, today was practice for the Cowboys. From Oxnard, California, the feature of the modern undrafted stock watch is once again highlighted.
Jalen Cropper gave two excellent plays in these productions. He has routinely visited the end zone over the past few days. To make the grab in the end zone on the first play, Cropper broke away from Jourdan Lewis and managed to hold onto the football in spite of an approaching defender. In order to find Cropper, who ran a similar pattern and made a clutch catch in the “Mojo moment,” Dak Prescott exited the pocket on the following play and sought for him. Cropper caught the pass just behind him.
Cropper’s moves appeared so natural. He possesses excellent body control when catching passes close to the end zone, sets up defenders before making breaks, and has the quickness to move horizontally away from the defense. He is had a number of solid training camp days thus far, and he is solidifying himself as a first- and second-team offensive option. Cropper’s performance against the Rams’ first- and second-team defenses during practice will be interesting to see. Cropper has been playing well so far this season, but it will be interesting to see if he can maintain any of this momentum into Sunday’s game and for the rest of the summer.
