Hugh Keevins has attacked Philippe Clement, the manager of Rangers, for his remarks on John Lundstram after the draw with Hearts.
On Saturday, August 3, the Light Blues opened their Premiership campaign with a poor 0-0 stalemate at Tynecastle, displaying virtually little quality in the latter third of the game.
After the final siren, Clement expressed his opinion that Lundstram was not present for his team, which caused Keevins, a writer for the Daily Record and Clyde 1 analyst, to take offense and criticize the Belgian.
On Saturday, August 3, he stated on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, “Philippe Clement made comments following the Tynecastle match that the Rangers supporters didn’t agree with. I don’t see why in the world he brings up John Lundtram’s name in a conversation and claims that the Rangers missed him since you let him leave.
We truly missed John Lundstram, so tell your players after one game that you’re not doing it. Are Rangers planning to add any players during the upcoming transfer window? It is debatable if Clement took the choice to allow Lundstram to depart this summer because the manager of the Gers had previously expressed his desire to retain the Englishman at Ibrox and sign him to a long-term contract.
In any case, the manager shouldn’t be bringing up a player who left the team months ago when attempting to explain why the Light Blues performed so poorly on Saturday at Tynecastle.
Given Clement’s remarks from earlier in the season, the summer rebuild hasn’t been as extensive as most supporters had anticipated, but he has received support, especially in midfield where Connor Barron has joined Mohammed Diomande.
Before the window closes, Clement and the supporters would definitely like to see more well-known players join the team, but for the time being, they have to settle for what they have.
Hopefully, when Rangers kick off their Champions League qualification campaign, they won’t miss Lundstram any longer.
