What Pedro Neto said in response to a question about his summertime departure from Wolves to join Tottenham

With only a few hours to go, Tottenham Hotspur will wrap up their preseason preparations by returning home.

Nearing the end of the summer tour of Asia, Ange Postecoglou will have more time to work on the finishing touches for the next season at Hotspur Way.

Tottenham has had a great start to the summer with four wins from their first four games and no new injury concerns. They take on Bayern Munich on Saturday. Concerns about how much business Daniel Levy and Johan Lange have done in the transfer market may exist outside of the pitch. Tottenham is reportedly interested in signing Pedro Neto, a winger for Wolves, this summer.

And the forward from Portugal just gave a glimpse into what might be in store for him in the upcoming weeks.

What Pedro Neto said after being linked with Tottenham

Tottenham have been linked with a number of forward players but have so far only brought in Timo Werner on loan – again – and youngster Yang Min-hyeok who arrives in January.

Tottenham is also interested in Eberechi Eze this summer, but their demands on the terms of a trade could make a deal with Crystal Palace costly. But considering what he has demonstrated in the Premier League, Neto is also a name that people in north London are eager to see before the new season begins. The Portuguese winger’s questionable injury history may be the only major issue with him.

When asked if he will be staying at Molineux this summer, Neto said during the unveiling of Wolves’ away uniform.

“I love this club, I’m really happy to be here and take this team to another level,” Neto replied.

Question to Pedro? Are you staying next season?

In all fairness, Neto did not exactly give a definitive yes or no, perhaps as expected, on which could well suggest that he did not want to rule out the possibility of leaving.

Also, had he admitted he could leave it would have put a little bit of a downer on what was supposed to be a celebratory event.

What Gary O’Neil has said about selling Pedro Neto

Usually, managers tend to put up a front when they are at risk of losing their best players.

Being defensive and suggesting their club will not be selling their prized asset two weeks before the new season is usually the way it tends to go.

However, the Wolves boss, Gary O’Neil, recently issued a surprisingly honest verdict when asked whether Neto could be sold this summer.

“But of course, it can change really quickly if a massive bid comes in from a top club, then no-one will stand in Pedro’s way,” O’Neil said.
