Former Nigerian international Friday Ekpo has offered the Super Falcons a roadmap for the future

Former Nigerian international Friday Ekpo has offered the Super Falcons a roadmap for the future after the team’s early elimination from the women’s football competition at the Paris Olympics. The Super Falcons lost to Brazil, Spain, and Japan during the group stage, failing to earn a single victory. The club under Randy Waldrum’s tutelage scored just one goal during the three games—a fantastic effort by Jennifer Echegini—while giving up five goals.

Ekpo also emphasized the significance of keeping an eye on upcoming competitions, especially the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which would take place in Morocco the following year. Ekpo say, “I think the team needs better preparation after this tournament and the introduction of young players in the Super Falcons.” “We should acknowledge that the team will not be competing in the Olympics and concentrate on assisting them in improving their performance at the 2025 WAFCON.”

The Super Falcons are well-known for their accomplishments in the African Continental Championships, having won the tournament eleven times, despite their defeats. However, South Africa now has the championship title after defeating Morocco in the final two years ago; their last triumph was in 2018.
