Nils Koppen praises Rangers’ decision to sign center-back Robin Propper, saying the player has been seeking experience.
The Dutch defender, who captained FC Twente, is moving to Ibrox in time for the upcoming Premier League season.
After discussing the necessity of selling before purchasing, manager Philippe Clement has moved to add defensive experience after Connor Goldson and Sam Lammers left the team.
Koppen, the director of football recruitment, has played a crucial role in adding it. “I’m happy to have Robin join our team and I’d like to extend a warm welcome to him,” he stated.
Robin adds experience to the squad, which is something we have been trying to do. From my experience in the Netherlands, I was well aware of him, and I think he had the necessary traits to blend in nicely at the club.
“Robin is a great addition to the Rangers team and we are excited to have him here,” Clement stated. Along with his leadership qualities from his time as FC Twente’s captain, he is a strong and admirable defender who has garnered expertise from his years of playing in the Netherlands.
“We are thrilled to have him on board as we prepare for the new season, and he is pleased to begin the next chapter of his career in Scotland. We are overjoyed that Robin has chosen to play for the Rangers.
To bring this one over the finish line, according to Propper, two Rangers players turned deal makers. “Rangers is a big club, and it feels great to be here,” he continued. Hearing that the team was interested in signing me made me happy.
I’ve always maintained that I wanted to go on a fresh journey abroad, so it feels strange when a team like Rangers supports you. You want to play football here because this club lives and loves the game.
When I chatted with Vaclav Cerny and Cyriel Dessers, they were very complimentary of the club. It’s good to recognize a few faces. You’ve heard about the Rangers supporters and the atmosphere here, so I’m thrilled to be here.
