Following their unsuccessful attempt to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Hugo Bueno, Celtic are apparently focusing on a Premier League gem for Brendan Rodgers.
News on Celtic’s transfer Celtic still needs to make some transfers as the Scottish Premiership season draws near; they have only brought in three reinforcements thus far.
To help Rodgers’ team defend their Scottish Premiership crown, Kasper Schmeichel, Viljami Sinisalo, and most recently Paulo Bernardo have all arrived.
On that front, it appears that left-back is the main emphasis right now. The Bhoys reportedly tried to recruit Wolves’ Bueno on loan but were unsuccessful.
The play of Rayan Ait-Nouri has caused the Premier League defender to fall out of favor under Gary O’Neil, and he may now have the opportunity to play important minutes elsewhere. But as things stand, it doesn’t appear probable that those minutes will be played at Celtic Park.
Those in Scotland, however, appear to have turned their attention elsewhere. Lewis Steele, a trustworthy writer covering Merseyside for The Daily Mail, reports that Celtic is interested in signing Owen Beck on a loan from Liverpool.
This would mark the Reds academy graduate’s return to Scotland after spending last season at Dundee. Like Bueno, a trade could be challenging because the Reds would prefer a permanent sale.
The left-back, who is only 21 years old, has a lot of promise and valuable experience playing in Scotland’s premier league. Considering Celtic’s prior interest in the Liverpool player from last season, the player might even be a better fit than Bueno on paper.
The transfer window closes in a few weeks, so the Scottish champions don’t have much time to finalize a deal.
“Brilliant” Beck must relocate the loan Beck is one of the players who could use another loan move, despite the fact that some will view Arne Slot’s arrival as an opportunity to crack the current Liverpool lineup.
Presently, Slot may choose from Andy Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas, and Joe Gomez at left back, which will inevitably reduce Beck’s opportunities to make an impact.
Alternatively, he might make waves at Celtic again under former Liverpool manager Rodgers.
According to Dundee manager Tony Docherty, who spoke to the club’s media outlets via BBC Sport, “He’s made such a positive impact in the first half of the season both on and off the pitch,” people in Scotland were clearly impressed with the young player during his previous loan term.
The coaches, players, and other staff members at the club were all ecstatic to hear yesterday that he was allowed to return to Dundee, having received confirmation from Liverpool.
“I’m sure that Owen’s return will make the supporters ecstatic because they enjoyed watching him play for Dundee’s dark blue. All we want is for Owen to become again who he truly is.
Everyone is eager for him to return since he is a terrific member of a really good squad and a brilliant youngster.”
