Why the Wolves manager updates Pedro Neto on his “massive bid” in the midst of Liverpool’s £98 million “double deal.”

Pedro Neto is still unclaimed as a summer transfer target, according to Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Gary O’Neil.

Despite losing a lot of time due to injury, the winger had a fantastic 2023–24 season with the Molineux team.

Neto led Wolves to 14th place in the Premier League standings with three goals and eleven assists in 24 games. At Euro 2024, he was called up to Portugal’s squad and played three games before France eliminated them in the quarterfinals.

Neto has been connected to a number of elite Premier League teams. The 24-year-old has reportedly drawn interest from Liverpool and is being mentioned as a possible long-term Mo Salah substitute.

There were rumors circulating earlier this month that the Reds and their Wolves teammate Rayan Ait-Nouri were arranging a double move worth £98 million.

Speaking to the Express & Star, O’Neil acknowledged that it would be challenging for Wolves to stop Neto from leaving in the event that a sizable bid was submitted, but he is optimistic that the forward won’t be moving during the summer transfer window.

O’Neil remarked, “I know how excellent he is and how well he would go at a large club. It goes without saying that I want this squad to achieve incredible success. Thus, I’m hoping he remains.

I believe so (there’s a possibility he remains). Nothing is happening from anyone right now. He’s in a good place; I’ve explained to him how our game will unfold, how well it fits him, and how much of a role he will play.

But while you’re talking to them, we’re all adults, of course. Pedro won’t have any opposition if a major club makes a bid of this magnitude. “I have no doubt he’ll be here. The fact that we haven’t really had anything leads the club to believe he won’t.Naturally, though, a lot of work can wait.
